Parks-Sefton Park- Liverpool- Mabon.
I’ve spent two autumn equinox’s in Sefton park now. Both completely by accident until I’ve got home and realised. Most things had started to pack in for the autumn, lots of leaves still but a bit crispy and tinged slightly at the edges. Skeletal plant frames throwing their seeds away for another year, but this can be the best plant spotting time.
Rewarded with a very nice specimen of Black nightshade in full flower by the lake, its berries hadn’t arrived yet. Moving on I spotted what I think is an Umbrella plant. Hanging over the stream like, you know, giant umbrellas. They are water loving so maybe?
Also a Japonica, which if I had in my own garden wouldn’t grow at all but self seeded by a bin? RHS gold winner.
I just enjoy walking around really. Not doing much except nosing about and eating my biscuits. Light mists formed as the sun tried to come out through the trees and the Common reeds whistled as it suddenly started to feel very ‘autumn’. I counted 16 crows having a meeting and had a cup of tea.
