Churches- Tuxlith Chapel-St Luke's-Milland.

On possibly the hottest day of the year, off out I went to see Tuxlith Chapel. I follow Friends of Friendless Churches on twitter and Instagram and on one particular day they posted a picture of the chapel. Being nosey and on holiday I checked how to get there and that is a journey in itself.

It is situated on the B2070 which used to be part of the A3. This excited me as I do like an old road that is no longer.

The first thing you notice when you arrive is how quiet it is. Hundreds of crickets singing in the grass. Wild flowers, big droopy trees and a hornets nest met me at the door. It is a botanists dream.

Parts of the chapel date back to the 12th Century and you can really feel it. There is a little exhibition as you go in and the floor tiles are beautiful. It is all beautiful and even more so the coolness on a 34 degree day.

A little further up is the new church of St Luke’s. There was a dead Cockchafer beetle just outside. The first one I had ever seen in real life.

Going inside, I was very impressed with the large selection of prayer kneelers and the squirrel was my favourite.

The windows of the church glistened in the heat and a robin came to see me as I was leaving. Go HERE to read more about the stained glass as it is really special.
